Neuropsychology deals with procedures for the diagnosis and therapy of high brain functions. These subjects include attention and concentration, memory, language and mathematical abilities, reaction and processing speed in the thought process, disease processing, problem solving, planning and emotional process.
Neuropsychological tests are useful in the diagnosis, delineation and assessment of intellectual disabilities, dementia types or deficits following brain injury (e.g. stroke, traumatic brain injury or inflammation). Neuropsychological diagnostics are often helpful in the planning of neurosurgical procedures, e.g. in epilepsy or for assessment of questions of the effects of brain damage or illness on important fields of the everyday life (occupation, driving license, ect.).
And finally, neuropsychological fields of activity include training of attention, perception or memory but also disease processing, social skills and dealing with problematic situations.
