MUNCH stands for Migraine Lunch. At the “Munch” training series, high-caliber speakers give talks on the topics of headaches and neurology. The training usually takes place once a month from 12.30 to 13.30 at the Hirslanden Headache Center at Forchstrasse 424 in Zollikon. However, it is also possible to participate virtually via Zoom.

Audience: Specialists, general practitioners, physiotherapists, MPAs, other medical professionals

Credits: 1 credit for neurology (SNG), 1 credit for general internal medicine (SGAIM), 1 credit for physiotherapy (Physioswiss)

This educational series focuses on the various aspects of stroke aftercare.

  • Stroke aftercare compact 1.0 (04.02.2021): The first set of lectures topics such as neurovascular aspects of stroke aftercare, treatment of spasticity as well as function-related physiotherapy after stroke were discussed.
  • Stroke aftercare compact 2.0 (26.10.2021): The second set of lectures the thematic focus was on the question “When do I have to send a patient to a specialist?”. The “Decision Tree for Spasticity Treatment”, explicitly developed for this purpose, was presented and explained. The Decision Tree is intended to serve as a useful guide in the daily work of a medical professional and can help doctors as well as therapists in decision-making with regard to diagnosis, need for further assessment and treatment in patients with possible spasticity.
  • Stroke aftercare compact 3.0 (18.08.2022): The third set of lectures the interaction of spasticity, pain and sleep after stroke was the focal point of the content of lectures. Based on the latest scientific findings, participants received an update on the classification, treatment and management of pain and sleeping disorders after stroke. Prof. Wissel also discussed the triage for treatment of spastic movement disorders after stroke.

The medical training event aims to provide healthcare professionals with comprehensive knowledge and insight into the medical applications of cannabis. During the event, experts will cover numerous topics such as the endocannabinoid system, the effects of THC and CBD in pain therapy, the treatment of spasticity and spasms in neurological disorders and the use of cannabis for migraines and trigeminal neuralgia. The treatment of childhood epilepsy with cannabidiol will also be discussed.
