MUNCH stands for Migraine Lunch and is an in-house medical colloquium. National and international high profile speakers give lectures on the subject of headache and neurology. The lectures take place once a month from 12:30 to 13:30 at the Headache Centre Hirslanden, Forchstrasse 424 in 8702 Zollikon. However, it is also possible to participate virtually via Zoom.

This educational series focuses on the various aspects of stroke aftercare.

  • Stroke aftercare compact 1.0 (04.02.2021): The first set of lectures topics such as neurovascular aspects of stroke aftercare, treatment of spasticity as well as function-related physiotherapy after stroke were discussed.
  • Stroke aftercare compact 2.0 (26.10.2021): The second set of lectures the thematic focus was on the question “When do I have to send a patient to a specialist?”. The “Decision Tree for Spasticity Treatment”, explicitly developed for this purpose, was presented and explained. The Decision Tree is intended to serve as a useful guide in the daily work of a medical professional and can help doctors as well as therapists in decision-making with regard to diagnosis, need for further assessment and treatment in patients with possible spasticity.
  • Stroke aftercare compact 3.0 (18.08.2022): The third set of lectures the interaction of spasticity, pain and sleep after stroke was the focal point of the content of lectures. Based on the latest scientific findings, participants received an update on the classification, treatment and management of pain and sleeping disorders after stroke. Prof. Wissel also discussed the triage for treatment of spastic movement disorders after stroke.

The European Headache and Migraine Day was founded in 2006 by support groups, pain researchers and physicians and has since been organised by the European Headache Allliance (EHA). The European Headache and Migraine Day, which takes place every September 12th, draws attention to the burden and unjustified discrimination faced by patients with migraine and other headaches. The Headache Centre Hirslanden has participated in the campaign since 2018 and holds a public event on September 12th of each year, with informative lectures and a social gathering thereafter.
